New American Development Center (NADC) and its impact on its Community Beneficiaries
New American Development Center received the Somali Today’s 2019 nonprofit organization of the year award for its authentic services and programs to the East African Somali community in Minnesota. The organization has done a significant job work for economic vitality, youth development, and access to affordable housing for the Immigrant families that it serves.
NADC’s work reflects the needs of its community, so all of its programs and services are the direct needs of the service beneficiaries. Youth leadership and job readiness programs were highly successful for its impact on the Somali youth because It has trained Somali youth to learn job skills, improve working place communication techniques, and develop leadership proficiencies.
Also, the organization has trained dozens of East African youth and adults to learn the necessary skills of businesses. Entrepreneurship cohort graduates grow their experiences of customer services, marketing strategies, completeness, and budgeting. Due to the business technical assistance program that the organization provides to its clients, small businesses were opened, and jobs were created.
Furthermore, the organization has partnered with several advocacy organizations to protect tenants’ rights and tackle landlord abuses for their low-income renters. NADC and its partner organizations created an affordable housing coalition to produce more affordable units, preserve currently available units, and protecting tenants.
